State Scholarship Program Information
Who funds the scholarship program?
Scholarships for engineering students are made possible through
the generous contributions of NHSPE members, donor Corporations,
and fund-raising activities. The intent of the scholarship is
to encourage growth and career development at the state level
within the areas of Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical,
Chemical, and other engineering disciplines.
Who is Eligible for the Scholarships?
Scholarships are granted to high school seniors or college undergraduate
students who are currently or will be enrolled in an Accreditation
Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited engineering
program. High school applicants must be in-state (NH) students
and preference will be given to college students planning to
attend a New Hampshire university or college. Scholarships are
awarded based on financial need, academic achievement, and general
community involvement.

What are the NSPE and NHSPE?
The National Society of Engineers (NSPE) is the only engineering
society that represents Licensed Professional Engineers (PE’s)
across all disciplines. Founded in 1934, NSPE strengthens
the engineering profession by promoting engineering licensure
and ethics, advocating and protecting PE’s legal rights at
the national and state levels, publishing news of the profession,
providing continuing education opportunities, and much more.
NSPE serves over 60,000 members and the public through 54
state and territorial societies and more than 500 chapters.
The New Hampshire Society of Professional Engineers (NHSPE)
is the state society of NSPE. NHSPE represents engineers in
the legislative process, encourages professional registration
of qualified engineers, creates a public awareness of engineering,
sponsors educational programs, and supports both professional
and technical growth of all engineers.
Some of Our Goals
- To formulate high ethical standards for the practice
of engineering and to lead the profession in adhering to
these principles.
- To help establish educational standards for engineering
and to provide learning opportunities that enable licensed
engineers to maintain practice competency.
- To incorporate engineering principles and perspectives
in government decisions that protect the public and foster
technological developmental.
- To stimulate student interest in mathematics and scientific
principles that underlie a technological society and to
guide those who express an interest in engineering.
- To provide forums that focus these goals on the licensed
practice of engineering in construction, education, government,
industry, and private practice.
Our Fundamental Values
Professionalism requires engineers to place public welfare
before personal gain. Public trust in the integrity of engineering
is essential to the prosperity of our profession. This interrelationship
is the foundation of our value system.
