The
drive to Enfield NH was well worth it. NSPE members and guests feasted
on poached salmon, roast prime rib of beef and herb crusted breast
of chicken.

Bob
Syler, NSPE President, spoke on leadership changes and organizational
restructuring. He also presented NSPE's new mission statement and
stressed the need for engineers to take a proactive role in their
communities.

The
Enfield Shaker Village provided quite the history lesson. Their
informative tour lasted over one hour and covered all six floors
of this fascinating building. A brief video detailing the religious
beliefs was also shown.

Spring
Dinner Meeting 1999 |
Mr.
Leon Kenison, Commissioner of Transportation for NH, speaks to an
attentive group of engineers about TEA21. The Transportation Efficiency
Act is having a significant affect on NH infrastructure improvements
and construction economy. Kenison described how important the Federal
money was to NH's 10-Year improvement Program. NH will now have
the ability to meet its transportation expenditures. He also discussed
how the NHDOT is streamlining its opperations to make do with a
fixed staff size. |

CRREL
Tour & Dinner Meeting 1999

wheel with this device. 20 years of loading are simulated
in less than a month of in-house testing. |

An ice pool at the CRREL Facility, Hanover, NH
Braving
slick roads and a wintry mix of precipitation, a group from
NHSPE participated in a tour of the United States Corps
of Engineer's Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory
(CRREL) facility in Hanover New Hampshire. CRREL is a unique
facility that addresses the problems and opportunities unique
to the world's cold regions. CRREL has earned an international
reputation of excellence that is sustained by its exceptional
technical and support staffs and by emphasis on a balance
of theoretical, experimental, laboratory and field work.
